VISION

ision is a widely used term but
not well understood or appreciate its importance. Vision is a
realistic, credible and attractive future of an individual, organization and society at large. In essence, Vision must be real, measurable, achievable and relevant to all stakeholders else it loses its purpose and source of inspiration. Most importantly it will not be able to stand the test of time.
realistic, credible and attractive future of an individual, organization and society at large. In essence, Vision must be real, measurable, achievable and relevant to all stakeholders else it loses its purpose and source of inspiration. Most importantly it will not be able to stand the test of time.
Vision attracts commitment and
energizes all concerned, gives meaning to the efforts and living, establishes
standards of excellence to measure performance and identifies variations and also
serves as the bridge between today and tomorrow.
So before quitting your job to
start that business or give up on that business or diversify into another line/product,
take up that job, change that career, etc., ask yourself these questions:
What
is my “passion”?
What
am I great at, unique gift?
How
could answers to 1 & 2 above be turned into a profitable life/venture?
What
3 choices engage my passion, utilize my gift and generate income?
What
is my vision for my life/business?
3 COMPONENTS OF A SUCCESSFUL VISION
|
To illustrate further, the following diagram entails having a balance between:
1. Doing
what you love to do
2. Doing
what you are great at, and
3. Income
generation
The vision for ones life is therefore the point where the 3 Components
are connected i.e. the point where you do what you love, great at doing it
and generate income. This gives the required satisfaction of doing what you
love and at the same time making money from it.
Be that as it may, the need for
Self Discovery, Self-Appraisal, subjectiang one to the Stress Test, Personality
Profiling, etc, whatever the nomenclature is essential and it is the first
point in the step to building your life, career and business.
In summary, consider these five
steps to form part of your self-discovery process and an essential tool in making
that decision and taking that essential step for your life or business to be a
success:
1. Determine your life blueprint via self-examination, personality profiling, etc. Self-discovery! Your Mission! What picture can you paint of your tomorrow?
2. What is your Vision? How do you plan to achieve your mission? How do you plan to make sure that the picture of tomorrow painted is achieved? What are your strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and weaknesses?
3. Using the diagram above, what is/are your business blueprint(s)? What line of business better suite your personality and chemistry? What is your passion or what you enjoy doing that suite your personality?
4. How do you want to operate? Step by step description how you want to achieve your Mission. Business/Life plan/feasibility study. Seek professional help in writing yours (but the bulk rests on you to chart your) future to better align with the dictates of the market! “He who fails to plan, plans to fail”
5. Build your Team: people who share your vision and ideologies and possess the minimum requirement. No compromise! People who compliment you and can support you morally, physically, spiritually and financially in achieving set goals
It’s essential to mention that
all we have said and its success depends on your attitude, determination,
drive, passion and caliber of people that make up your team. “YOUR ATTITUDE DETERMINES YOUR ALTITUDE”
and “VISION WITHOUT ACTION IS
DAYDREAMING”.
Your comments and input will be
highly appreciated
